BODY
Breathable Shirts/BIKE Jerseys:
SUMMER: Lighter colored MTB jerseys/"Tech Ts"
WINTER: long sleeve jerseys/tech ts or layering with Wool Flannel shirts.
Shorts/Pants:
LOCAL RIDERs Wear shorts throughout the year in San Diego. However, some winter rides may require riding pants, Breathable hiking Pants, or leggings/thermal tights.
Chamois/padded shorts:
While rider preference, we always advise wearing anything that helps a rider feel more comfortable on the bike.
Sturdy Biking/Hiking/Skate Shoes :
Bike Specific or Flat Shoes with grippy rubber and rigid outsole are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Please avoid RUNNING/Athletic SHOES WITH FOAM SOLES. SANDALS & FLIP FLOPS ARE NOT allowed on any TOURS.
BIKING SPECIFIC Socks/MERINO Wool:
Biking/Wool Socks will PROVIDE the best performance while pedaling in warmer temperatures.
Helmet:
IF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN HELMET, please BRING IT! Depending on the skill level of the ride, a Full Face Helmet may be recommended.
If Purchasing, we recommend the helmet that fits YOU the best & is equipped with a MIPS SYSTEM or equivalent to ensure maximum protection. If renting a bike, a helmet may also be provided.
Eye Protection:
Sunglasses or Goggles are highly recommended for all tours.
MTB Pads:
We RECOMMEND knee pads at minimum. While not required, Elbow pads are also highly recommended.
MTB Gloves:
While a personal preference, we do recommend wearing them if possible DUE TO POSSIBLE UNFORSEEN TRAIL CONDITIONS.
Rain Shell:
WE advise BRINGING a waterproof & breathable Rain jacket if there is a chance of rain during your visit.
Hip Pack/Backpack:
usually rider preference. however, we recommend using the best option carry the proper hydration, Nutrition, and emergency supplies for the ride.
Snacks & hydration:
We provide lots of great trail snacks & Hydration options as part of YOUR tour. however, Feel free to bring any of your favorites as well!
Sunscreen:
With over 267 days of sunshine a year, We highly recommend being prepared for any sort of sunny weather. however, if you forget, we Got YEW!
BIKE
bike tune-up:
if you're riding your own bike, we highly recommend a full bike tune-up that includes bleeding brakes, Replacing pads, & checking BOLT torque.
Recent Suspension service is also recommended.
tires:
San Diego trails can be extremely rocky and loose. We recommended USING MTB TIREs similar to THE MaXxis DHR with "EXO+" CASING OR HIGHER & Specialized Butcher with "GRAVITY" casing.
"Trail" or "EXO" Casings ARE NOT RECOMMENDED for upper intermediate & Advanced rides.
tire inserts:
we recommend using a rear insert at minimum for all Upper intermediate & advanced tours.
EMERGENCY BIKE SUPPLIES:
we WILL PROVIDE most universal emergency bike supplies, BUT recommend carrying your own as a precaution if Possible.
Bike Shipment:
if you're bike is being shipped and needs to be reassembled by a bike technician, recommend shops ARE found HERE or in the MENU above.

Please Note, MOUNTAIN BIKING IS CONSIDERED A "HIGH-RISK" ACTIVITY. it is the responsibility of the rider to ensure their body, PROTECTIVE gear, and bike are in proper working order before taking part in a tour. IT is also the responsibility of the rider to be Honest and ride within their skill level while on A tour for their safety and other riders. IT must also be noted that "we earn our downhills" in San Diego. This means some rides will involve Climbing. Therefore its imperative you're HONEST and aware of your own physical limits as not to endanger yourself or other Riders.
While San Diego is great for mountain biking, we do have some UNIQUE hazards & CONDITIONS to consider. to ensure the ride is enjoyable for everyone, We have provided our Bike & Gear RECOMMENDATIONS on the "GEAR TO PACK" menu ABOVE. We have Provided bike Rental Locations and Local Shop Information ABOVE AS WELL. Safety Considerations and instructions will also be provided the day of the tour.
